CREATING HOPE ONE STEP AT A TIME
This will be my seventh year to do the walk, but my eighth walk. I will be walking in Calgary in July. The last six years have been an incredible experience and have been some of the most inspirational weekends of my life, there were walkers of all ages walking for the same cause, to end women's cancer. There were fathers who had lost wives and daughters, there were sons and daughter who had lost mothers and grandmothers, then there were the survivors the real heroes who have so much strength and determination that it is amazing to be part of this journey for a sixth time.
I walk with my daughter Jessica, sister Shelley, my niece Erica and some great friends, in the Calgary Walk . This year I decided to join the Butterfly of Hope and walk with Chad and his team, because he is an inspiration to us all, to never give up, keep trying and together we will make a difference.
Seeing all the families and mothers old and young that have been affected and all the wonderful people willing to walk the 60 km to help is so inspiring it makes you believe you can do anything. This year i have added a personal goal. I am going to walk in two walks. One in Calgary and one in Toronto with the Butterfly of Hope Team. I am so very excited to be walking 120 km this year to do my part in helping to beat Women's Cancer!!!!
I walk in honour of those we've lost and the lives we're saving each day. Some of us have been walking since The Weekend's inaugural year in 2003, while others are just beginning their Weekend journey.
My commitment is based on love and my realization that we each need to do our part in this fight. I can walk. I can raise funds to benefit The Campbell Family Institute at The Princess Margaret, a leader in the fight against all women's cancers. I can and choose to be a part of this movement to save lives.
Cancer has affected my life as well as everyone's life in so many different ways, whether we know a survivor or lost friends or family we have to keep trying to find the cure. Cancer can be beaten with support from friends like you!!! Proceeds benefit the Alberta Cancer Foundation, funding important breast cancer research, education, services and care.
Thanks for supporting me in this walk, this is something I believe deeply in and want to help in any way I can. Thanks for being there for me!!!
Walking is easy... Cancer is hard!!!
