CREATING HOPE ONE STEP AT A TIME
I started this journey in 2006 when the weekend was known as The Weekend to End Breast Cancer. My step Mom had passed that year from ovarian cancer and I had lost various other family members to various kinds of cancer. I felt that if advances were made in one type of cancer they would mean advances in all types of cancers. I walked for 5 consecutive years and after taking a break last year I am excited to again join the walk in 2012.
I have walked with friends, alone, and year before last was proud to walk with the Butterfly of Hope team. The team was created by an amazing man Chad Cieslik. After walking in 35 weekends he himself was struck by cancer and forced to stand on the sidelines in 2010. He formed a team in each of the cities hosting a walk and we proudly walked for him and all others touched by this terrible disease. I am happy to say he was able to walk last year and I am looking forward to walking with him and all the other Butterflies in Calgary.
